The Westchester County Health Department is offering free preventive treatment following a hepatitis A scare.

Dozens of people signed up to get the free hepatitis A treatment at the Westchester County Health Department clinic in White Plains. 

The treatment comes after a worker at a popular event space in Peekskill tested positive for the disease.

Health Department officials say anyone who was at Factoria on Saturday, Feb. 15 may have been exposed.

The department is also urging anyone who ate or drank at Fin & Brew Restaurant at Factoria on Feb. 15, 16 and 19 to get preventative treatment out of an abundance of caution - that's because the restaurant shares an ice machine with the event space.

Health officials say hepatitis A is transmitted by consuming food or drinks that have been touched by an infected person.

Preventative treatment is only effective within two weeks of exposure.

The county's free preventative treatment for hepatitis A will be available at the Health Department clinic in White Plains through Thursday.
