Health care providers, local lawmakers and community leaders have joined forces to host free flu shot clinics in Rockland County.
They warn that the flu season is expected to last until May and say it's not too late to get a vaccine.
HRH Care Community Health set up a free flu shot clinic on wheels at the Martin Luther King Center in Spring Valley. On Thursday, the same team is hosting another clinic where parents are encouraged to bring kids aged 6 months and older.
“As a parent, I have two young kids, what I tell my friends that have kids as well, by getting the flu shot yourself you are a shield, you won’t pass it along to your children or to the community,” said Sen. David Carlucci.
The CDC has confirmed nearly 17,000 cases of the flu in New York state as of last week, in all 62 counties.
