Fox Lane campus evacuated due to bomb scare
The entire Fox Lane school campus in Bedford was evacuated Thursday due to a bomb threat.
According to School Superintendent Debra Jackson, a message was found on a bathroom wall at the Fox Lane Middle School. The message claimed there was a bomb in one of buildings on campus and a gun in the high school.
Students from both the Fox Lane Middle School and Fox Lane High School were evacuated to the football field. The district?s administration building was also evacuated. Students were then sent home early by buses and all after-school activities were canceled.
Students say they were given little information on what was happening during the ordeal. Some say they weren?t even allowed to get their coats before the evacuation.
Both schools were searched by police and bomb-sniffing dogs, but nothing was found.
Another bomb scare took place at John Jay High School in Cross River Wednesday. There is no word if the cases are related.
