A former North Salem man may have been seeking help from al-Qaida in blowing up pipelines and refineries across the country. Forty-seven-year-old Michael Reynolds? plans were discovered through an Internet sting run by the FBI. According to published reports, Reynolds wanted al-Qaida?s help to blow up the Trans-Alaska Oil Pipeline, an oil refinery in a small Wyoming town, a gas pipeline in Pennsylvania and a New Jersey refinery. This isn?t the first time Reynolds has been in trouble with the law. He was arrested in 1978 by for allegedly trying to blow up his parents' house in Purdys. Reynolds has been extradited to Pennsylvania where he remains in custody without bail.
