A former Bronx baseball star has signed on the dotted line with a professional team.
Fordham co-MVP Greg Smith will play for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The team selected the former Rams outfielder in the 14th round of the 2006 draft. He?s been assigned to the Williamsport Crosscutters of the New York-Penn League, where he?ll be groomed for the majors. Smith hit .376 with 13 home runs and 48 RBIs his last season. He earned All-Atlantic 10 honors.
Smith will return to the New York area July 18 when the Crosscutters play the Staten Island Yankees.
