If you haven't gotten your flu shot yet, you may want to as health officials say flu season is in full swing here in the Hudson Valley.

Officials from the State Department of Health announced the flu is spreading across New York State, in fact, some hospitals are even limiting visitation to help prevent the spread of the flu.

There have been more than 3,000 cases of the flu across the state and more than 900 people have ended up in the hospital due to complications from the illness. 

That's why all health care workers are now required to wear masks if they haven't received their flu shot.

The good news is that officials at the Center for Disease Control say the flu vaccine seems to be a good match for the strain that is currently circulating.

Currently there are flu cases in each county in the Hudson Valley, including 77 in Westchester and 25 in Dutchess.

One infant has died in New York City.

Doctors say it's very important for children to get their flu shot. "The ones who weren't vaccinated, we're seeing about 80 percent of those children coming down with the flu," says Dr. John Zaso.

The flu season runs through May and often peaks in February.
