Drivers will find themselves inconvenienced for a several days while work is done on the Saw Mill River Parkway to avoid future flooding.
For five straight days and nights starting on May 8, a 1-mile stretch of the parkway will be completely shut down. The closure will be both north and southbound between Marble Avenue in Pleasantville and Manville Road in Thornwood. The state Department of Transportation plans on raising the parkway 6-12 inches so that excessive rain will no longer cause a problem. Drivers are urged to find alternative routes during the repair time.
