Heavy rains caused major flooding Friday forcing closures on the Bronx River, Hutchinson and Saw Mill River parkways.
Commuters in the morning rush hour were plagued with flooding roads. Some drivers were stranded and had to abandon their cars until the waters receded. The Bronx River Parkway was turned into a virtual river from the County Center in White Plains to the Saw Mill River Parkway.
Highway crews scrambled to clear storm drains and divert traffic. Most of the roads were reopened by noon, but there were still some trouble spots.
