An overnight fire has badly damaged a home in Pearl River.
Fire officials say flames broke out around 10:40 p.m. at a home on North Middletown Road.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor of the home. It took about half an hour to get the blaze under control.
A homeowner and person who lived in the basement were home at the time, but got out safely.
Both people were two older women who were able to escape after they were alerted by a passerby who saw the fire.
The fire does not appear suspicious.
