Orange County's first-ever medical marijuana dispensary has officially opened its doors to patients.
The dispensary is expected to help thousands of sick patients in the Hudson Valley, who previously had to travel up to two hours to get their medication.
There are three different types of medical cannabis now available for legal purchase with a prescription and medical marijuana ID card at Curaleaf: capsule, tincture and vaporizer.
Store manager Mike Conway says they have already helped more than 100 licensed customers since the store opened on Saturday.
Conway says right now, insurance does not cover the cost of medical marijuana, which can be as low as $200 a month, depending on how much is prescribed.
While medical marijuana is legal in New York state, it is still illegal on a federal level.
