The Mount Vernon Fire Department responded to a fire Saturday on the second floor of a commercial building on Mount Vernon Street.
Fire Chief Al Everett tells News 12 that the department received a call for the fire around 11:30 a.m. and have since been able to contain the fire.
The battle was complicated by the wind and the cold weather, he said. The nearest fire hydrant was frozen, resulting in a hurdle to find a water source to fight the blaze and heavy winds posed a challenge to containing the flames.
Crews from the New Rochelle Fire Department also responded to the fire.
News 12 is told no one was inside the building at the time of the fire.
