Firefighters put to the test in trench rescue drills
Firefighters across Westchester got some very valuable trench rescue training in Scarsdale Tuesday.
More than 200 firefighters will take part in trench rescue drills at the Scarsdale Public Works facility. Officials say safe setups for rescues are extremely important due to the instability of trenches. The firefighters will not only learn how to save victims, but also how to keep their comrades safe.
Officials say the skills firefighters learn during the drills are important due to a rise in trench-related incidents around the county. That increase is contributed to more local construction projects.
