Firefighters are battling a smoldering mulch pile fire in Briarcliff Manor today.
Officials say a huge pile of brush, branches, leaves and mulch started smoking around 9:30 a.m. at the Mount Pleasant dump on Claybird Lane.
Since there are no hydrants in the area, crews have had to shuttle 3,000-gallon tankers back and forth from the site.
Investigators aren't sure how the fire started. They say it is fortunate there are no homes in the area.
The dump been a problem spot in the past when there's hot and dry weather. Last year, a similar pile began smoldering and it took them hours to douse.
