Firefighter in coma after battling Walden fire
A firefighter was in a medically induced coma Sunday night after battling a fire that injured three firefighters in total and displaced four families in Walden.
The fire was captured on video sent to News 12 by a viewer. It broke out just before 9 p.m. Saturday on Orange Avenue.
The Walden fire chief says one of his firefighters went into cardiac arrest while fighting the blaze. That firefighter was taken to Orange Regional Medical Center, and was later placed in the coma.
Two other firefighters sustained minor injuries, including one who suffered a twisted ankle.
All of the residents of the building made it out safely.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials say it isn't considered suspicious.
