Firefighter fatally stabbed at Crawford party
A volunteer firefighter from Wallkill was fatally stabbed at a house party in Crawford early New Year's Day, police say.
The family of Justin Speights, 20, says he was trying to break up a fight at the time of the stabbing. The incident occurred at a home on Paddock Drive.
He was taken to Orange Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
Speights spent four years at as a volunteer firefighter in the Silver Lake Fire District.
Speights graduated from Pine Bush High School in 2014, where he was a star on the football team.
There are no suspects in custody as police continue to investigate the stabbing.
