A Rockland County family has been left without a home after a fire sparked inside their chicken coop.

Fire officials say they arrived at the two-alarm fire at 79 Parkway Trailer Park Court just before 12 p.m. Friday.

Firefighters from the Hillcrest, Thiells and Stony Point departments knocked the flames out quickly, but not before it spread to an adjacent trailer home on Kimberly Lane.

Officials say the fire started in a large chicken coop behind the home - potentially because of the heat lamps - but the cause is still under investigation.

Some of the chickens were lost in the fire.
