A Monday night fire ravaged a Yorktown home, leaving the owner and his family homeless less than one week before Thanksgiving, authorities say.
The flames broke out inside the home of Tom and Gemma Cuomo at 2732 Belle Court around 8 p.m., shooting through the roof and consuming their two-story house. The couple?s neighbor first spotted the flames and alerted the Cumos to the danger.
While the couple is staying with family nearby, other friends in the area are opening their doors in their time of need.
?I feel so terrible, so I came here to see if I can help,? says neighbor Richard Kreutzberg.
Firefighters believe faulty wiring is to blame for the blaze.
