When firefighters arrived, they found the garage, which is not connected to the house, engulfed in flames.
The fire weakened the garage and the attic collapsed, which made it difficult for firefighters to extinguish it.
After a few hours, crews were able to put out the fire.
The garage was destroyed, while the house was saved with only some damage.
The fire chief said there were no major injuries, but 11 firefighters were sent to St. John's Riverside Hospital for minor injuries.
