A cat was caught in the middle of the New York State Thruway Monday, and some believe that the Thruway Authority did nothing to help the animal.
Good Samaritans made a desperate effort to save the trapped cat in the middle of the median of the New York State Thruway near Exit 14 in Spring Valley.
Local fire officials say they also called the Thruway Authority asking them to do something.
The cat eventually ran to safety, but fire officials and community members say they are angry the Thruway Authority didn't do anything to help the animal.
"They're going to have to answer for that. That's ridiculous. It's someone's pet, wouldn't they want us to do everything possible to save it," says Justin Schwartz, of Spring Valley Hook and Ladder Company.
News 12 reached out to the Thruway Authority, which said that it rescues animals from the Thruway all the time.
