A home in Monroe was destroyed by flames on Monday.   

Fire officials say the blaze broke out Monday morning at a home near Lakes Road and Mid Oaks Drive.

They say when firefighters arrived, they were met with roaring flames and heavy black smoke, but were able to put the fire out quickly.

The one person who was inside the house escaped without injury.

Investigators are looking into what started the fire.
