The New York State Thruway Authority says a fire broke out at its maintenance facility in Larchmont.
The agency says the fire broke out in a storage shed just off Fifth Avenue next to I-95 at around 5 p.m.
No one was inside the shed at the time of the fire.
The shed was used to house salt that the Thruway Authority uses to melt snow off the streets in the winter.
An estimated 100 firefighters were called in to extinguish the blaze.
