Some more money could be on the way to the Westchester Medical Center in the form of extra Medicaid funds.
The Legislature has agreed to an increase of $75 million to the hospital, $25 million of that in Medicaid funds a year for three years. The hospital has been operating in the red for years. Part of the deal is that the county must also pitch in. The county plans to contribute $85 million, which includes money from a tobacco settlement and $45 million in recurring aid.
The package still needs to be approved by Governor George Pataki (R-NY).
