Students at Solomon Schechter are in mourning Monday over the loss of a fellow classmate, who died in a crash in Yonkers Saturday.
Yonkers police are continuing their investigation into the accident on Yonkers Avenue that claimed the life of Littal Gamliel of the Bronx. Police say Gamliel was the front passenger in a Honda Civic driven by her boyfriend. Police suspect drag racing may have played a role in the fatal crash. According to witnesses, the driver of the Civic was racing another car when one of the cars veered into oncoming traffic. One resident described the scene as a war zone.
A makeshift memorial has been set up where Gamliel lost her life. Students at Solomon Schechter, where Gamliel was a senior, held a prayer service for her Monday morning. Meantime, Gamliel's body is being flown back to her native Israel.
