The FBI identified the man shot and killed Friday in an incident involving a Yonkers police officer and an FBI agent.
The man killed on Aqueduct Avenue has been identified as 48-year-old Eric Campbell, of Queens.
Sources say Campbell was a suspect in two recent robberies, one in November at a Chase Bank on South Broadway in Tarrytown. The other occurred Dec. 7 at a Chase Bank on Saw Mill River Road in Greenburgh. In both cases, the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded cash.
News 12 has learned that Campbell has a lengthy criminal history and was released from prison just months before the deadly shooting. Campbell served five years in prison in the early 1990s for a manslaughter charge in Brooklyn. He also served another five years in prison for a robbery in Nassau.
Campbell was released from prison a third time in October after serving six years for an aggravated assault charge out of Queens.
The FBI remains tight-lipped about its investigation, only saying the shooting happened as an FBI agent and police officer were conducting law enforcement activity.
