A fast-moving fire tore through a New Rochelle photography studio Tuesday and severely damaged several apartments above.
Firefighters had to shut down Main Street to battle the fire. Officials say the fire started from an electrical cord and quickly spread to the curtains and walls in the studio. Firefighters had to rescue several people from the second and third-floor apartments.
Several of the 13 apartments above the studio were scorched or damaged by smoke and water, leaving many tenants homeless. The Red Cross was on hand to provide those tenants with shelter. One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.
