Farmingdale man sentenced to over 3 years in prison for role in Jan. 6 insurrection

A Farmingdale man was sentenced to 41 months in prison for his role during the Jan. 6 Capitol breach.
Greg Rubenacker, 26, allegedly engaged in a series of confrontations with law enforcement inside the Capitol building.
He was in a crowd that was asking where lawmakers were counting votes and eventually chased a U.S. Capitol officer securing the area.
Rubenacker let and then returned through the Rotunda, where he smoked marijuana and record a video of himself with the caption, "Smoke out the Capitol, baby."
The Long Island man also swung a plastic bottle at an officer's head and sprayed water from his bottle across officers engaging with other individuals.
He was arrested on Feb. 9, 2021 in Farmingdale.
Rubenacker pleaded guilty on Feb. 11, 2022to 10 counts of indictment, including charges of assaulting, resisting or impeding officers, civil disorder, obstructing an official proceeding and committing an act of physical violence on the Capitol grounds.
Following his prison term, Rubenacker will be placed on three years of supervised release.
He will also have to pay $2,000 in restitution.
