Friends and family members of a slain teenager held a rally Monday at Mount Vernon City Hall to call for change and an end to violence in the city.
Shomari Knox was fatally shot last week at West 3rd and South 9th streets. Police believe the gunman was targeting Knox after a dispute.
Knox?s family is calling for change to prevent other young people from dying on the streets of Mount Vernon. Family members met with the police commissioner and made specific requests to keep teenagers safe. One request calls for a curfew during the summer months. The family would also like to see more job and education opportunities for teenagers.
Meanwhile, Knox?s family is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
