The family of a Pelham couple killed when a tree fell on their car is now suing the state of Connecticut for $15 million.
Dr. Joseph Stavola, 46, and his wife, Jeanne Serocke, 44, were driving down the parkway with their two sons when a tree fell through the windshield of their car. Both the doctor and his wife were killed, but the couple?s sons both survived, suffering only minor injuries.
The couple?s family filed the lawsuit against Connecticut on Monday. They are suing for two counts of wrongful death and emotional distress, claiming the state was negligent and should have known the tree posed a danger to motorists.
