Family, friends and colleagues bid a final farewell Wednesday to a Pomona teacher killed last week in a car accident.
Ernie Stedge, 65, was killed Jan. 29 when he was hit by a car while crossing Route 202. Stedge taught math and computer science at Peekskill Middle School and was planning to retire this year.
"Ernie was a wonderful person. He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone," says Cindy Peters, a family friend. "Sweetheart of a man, always friendly, always a good word to say."
Stedge had a wife and two sons in college. Police say the driver involved in the crash is not being charged with any wrongdoing.
