The family and friends of a New Rochelle tow truck driver killed in a December hit-and-run faced the alleged killer for the first time Tuesday in court.
Family and co-workers of Sal Brescia, a 32-year-old tow truck driver who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run, were in Harrison Town Court for the hearing of alleged killer Anthony Mangano.
Police say Mangano struck Brescia while he was doing his job - pulling up his flatbed to help a stalled driver on the northbound side of I-95 near Playland Parkway in Harrison back in December.
Following a three-month investigation, state police arrested Mangano, of Queens, for allegedly clipping Brescia and then taking off.
State police say they were able to match a few pieces of plastic found at the scene back to Mangano's car.
Brescia’s family says they feel like justice still hasn't been served, as Mangano’s bail was still set at $2,000.
"He had no right to take an innocent life. We cry every day,” says Brescia’s aunt.
Mangano is due back in court on June 27, but if he should be indicted before that date, he will report to county court in White Plains for his arraignment.
