Families remember Yonkers residents who died in Sept. 11 terror attacks

Families nationwide came together Friday to remember the thousands of lives lost 19 years ago on Sept. 11. Among those killed in the terror attacks were 262 people from the Hudson Valley.

Families nationwide came together Friday to remember the thousands of lives lost 19 years ago on Sept. 11. Among those killed in the terror attacks were 262 people from the Hudson Valley.
Pipes and Drums of the Police Emerald Society of Westchester led the city of Yonkers' annual 9/11 memorial ceremony down by the city's waterfront.
Twenty-six Yonkers residents lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Maria Ciccone's son Alex was one of them.
Ciccone says the pain of losing him is just as fresh 19 years later.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano urged everyone to put politics and differences aside and find common ground during these challenging times, just as the nation did in the aftermath of 9/11.
