The families of two students, allegedly molested by a former music teacher, have filed a lawsuit against the Mamaroneck School District. The alleged sexual molestation took place over a two-year period at the Hommocks Middle School in Mamaroneck. Back in October, 27-year-old Omar Rodriguez pleaded guilty to statutory rape and child endangerment after having sex with a 16-year-old girl from Connecticut and inappropriately touching younger students at the Hommocks Middle School. Now, a federal civil rights lawsuit claims the school district knew what Rodriguez was doing and did not take any action to stop the alleged abuse. Officials from the Mamaroneck School District wouldn't comment on camera, but issued this statement, "We have been served with the document. We have sent it to our counsel for review. The district and individuals will not be commenting as the matter is now in the hands of our attorneys."
