Christopher Morgan, the West Point cadet who was killed in a training accident, is being remembered as the best of the best.

Morgan, 22, was a star athlete at his high school in West Orange, New Jersey.  News 12 spoke with his father after he was killed Thursday in a military vehicle accident about six miles from the Military Academy.

"Nothing that has happened in the last couple of days is going to take away what I have or what we shared with him," said Chris Morgan Sr. "We are grateful for the opportunity to have had him as a son.”

Stephan Zichella, Morgan’s wrestling coach, also had nice things to say about the cadet.

"He was an outstanding student, his teachers loved and adored him, his peers respected him," Zichella told News 12.

Morgan was sitting on a bench with 20 others in the rear of a truck bed when the vehicle rolled on a dirt road. While others were injured, Morgan was the only one to die from his injuries.

The incident is under investigation.

The family will be participating in a vigil tonight on the West Point campus.
