As New Yorkers continue to cope with unemployment, they are finally getting some good news.
Last week, the state announced that it has been approved for the extra $300 a week of unemployment money and it could arrive by the end of the month.
On Aug. 8, President Donald Trump signed an executive order freeing up $44 billion from FEMA to use to support the unemployed.
Since the order was signed, 30 states have entered the program, with Arizona being the only one so far to receive the extra money promised to them earlier this month.
While plenty will be happy to see extra money in their weekly benefits checks, it may not be enough - and it won't be long before some residents have to look elsewhere for help.
The hope is that this money will last through December, but with a busy hurricane season still ahead and FEMA needing to supply money to those relief efforts as well, these promised unemployment benefits may be gone quicker than many expect.
