President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un were all smiles after the Singapore summit, but an Iona College political science professor says don’t be fooled by smiles.
Dr. Jeanne Zaino says Kim Jong Un is a professional at being a politician, and President Trump claims he knows the art of the deal better than anyone.
"We do see the Kim Jong Un that many people who have spent time with him and who know him well have seen over time. This is a guy who knows what he wants, and knows how to get it. And these are real negotiators. Of course, Trump has talked about himself as the best negotiator and dealmaker, so it's a fascinating mix and a fascinating match when you look at it that way,” says Zaino.
Zaino says it remains to be seen whether or not North Korea will keep promises.
At the conclusion of that landmark summit, the president promised that people were going to be very impressed and very happy.
