Execution delayed for Bonistall killer
A judge has delayed the scheduled execution of a man convicted of raping and killing of 20-year-old Lindsey Bonistall, of White Plains.
James Cooke Jr. was set to be put to death on Dec. 4 for the 2005 crime inside Bonistall's off-campus apartment at the University of Delaware.
A judge signed a delay so the U.S. Supreme Court can consider Cooke's appeal.
His attorney argues that Cooke should have been given more time to prepare for the trial after he fired his court-appointed attorneys to represent himself.
