Ex-White Plains pastor accused of stealing parish funds
Former pastor Patrick Dunne was arraigned Friday for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from his own White Plains parish.According to charges filed by District Attorney Janet DiFiore, over the past six years Dunne stole several hundred thousand dollars from various parish accounts. Dunne had been pastor at Our Lady of Sorrows for 16 years. ?The addiction of gambling, which was his problem, affected everybody in the parish family,? says Father Philip Quealy.While parishioners are hurt by the charges, many are still willing to support Father Dunne.?It doesn?t take away from his goodness,? says parishioner Marie McMahon. ?I think that people in the parish will be rallying around him.?After his arraignment, Father Dunne was released on his own recognizance. If convicted, Dunne could face up to 15 years in prison.Father Dunne?s next court appearance is scheduled for June 27.
