Ex-WC DA splits from hubby in troubled marriage
Former Westchester District Attorney Jeanine Pirro and her husband Al Pirro are separating.
A family spokesman made the announcement Saturday. The split comes a year after Jeanine lost her bid to become New York attorney general. Her campaign came to a halt when a U.S. attorney's office started investigating whether the candidate had broken laws by asking former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik to bug her husband's boat.
Sources said Jeanine believe Al was cheating on her with family friend Lisa Santangelo.
The former DA also stood by her man when he was convicted for tax fraud in 2000 and admitted to having a child with another woman in Florida.
"I've known Al and Jeanine for over 30 years and I always thought through thick and thin that they were madly in love with each other and that they'd never break up," said Pirro family friend and News 12 political analyst Mike Edelman.
Edelman said he doesn't believe the separation is over Jeanine's political ambitions. The couple plans to stay married until their youngest child, Alex, starts college. The Pirros also have a daughter named Christine.
