In an unusual political move, former state Sen. Nick Spano, a longtime Republican, endorsed Democrat Andy Spano in the race for Westchester County executive.
"We need someone at the helm of Westchester County who can continue to chart a course for our future," Nick Spano said, standing next to the incumbent county executive in Greenburgh Thursday.
In a similar move, Conservative Party Chairman Michael Long announced his endorsement Tuesday of Republican Rob Astorino over Andy Spano, who has the backing of the Westchester Conservatives.
There has been speculation in political circles that Nick Spano may be looking at his own run for county executive in four years.
"I am having fun doing what I'm doing right now, and I'm having fun standing here, supporting Andy Spano for county executive," said Nick Spano.
