Essential workers from throughout the Hudson Valley are calling on Congress to send them relief, especially in areas with increased minority populations, which they say have more cases of COVID-19.
A caravan from Yonkers to White Plains was led by 32BJ SEIU, which is comprised of essential workers like handymen, residential workers, security guards and cleaners who sanitize health care facilities. They are calling for hazard pay, protection from layoffs and more PPE.
They are also calling for social change. They say they are proud of the fact that they are a multi-ethnic organization and are supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
