Entergy steps up Indian Point image makeover
As the NRC considers Entergy's application to renew licenses for Indian Point, the company that runs the plant is stepping up its efforts to sell the plant's image to the public.
Entergy officials say they?ve spent millions on the public relations program over the past five years. Since Sept. 11, Entergy has been trying to send a message about the need for Indian Point through radio, print and Web ad campaigns.
In the fall of 2006, Entergy changed Indian Point?s slogan from ?Safe, Secure and Vital? to ?Right for New York.? Advertising directs consumers to Right for New York, which makes the case for keeping Indian Point licensed.
Critics say the millions spent on public relations could be put to better use.
