Westchester County is expecting a $15 million windfall from the Olympics-style Empire State Games.

Westchester is hosting the event, which is more than 30 years old, for the first time. County officials expect to see $15 million pumped into the local economy as a direct result of the five-day event.

Several hundred of the more senior athletes, aged 50 and older, will be staying at the Tarrytown Sheraton. The manger is preparing meeting rooms and stocking up the hotel kitchen with energy-boosting pasta and fruits for the players and other paying guests.

Younger athletes are staying at local colleges, such as Pace University and Purchase College.

Local restaurants and stores are also rolling out the red carpet for fans and athletes. Many eateries are now suggesting customers make reservations.
