Federal regulators say Indian Point 2 was shut down Monday night after a failure in the electrical current's main generator.
Entergy, which owns and operates the plant, says there was no release of radioactivity during the automatic shutdown.
Entergy says Indian Point 3, the other reactor at the Buchanan site, remained at full power.
