E. Ramapo plans to increase high school classroom sizes
A new plan is in place to increase classroom sizes in East Ramapo's high schools.
The classrooms will jump in size from 25 to 28.
According to a new contract, teachers who agree to the larger classrooms will earn an extra $12 a day, per period, per student.
Some parents don't think the larger classrooms are the answer.
"To fill classrooms with outdated materials and classrooms falling apart, it changes dynamic of school," says recent graduate Kinsley Alexandre, of Spring Valley.
Alexandre thinks the district should just hire more teachers and create more classes, something the school board says it simply can't afford.
A district spokesperson says the new contract will give more students access to advanced placement classes.
