Drug-fueled police chase spills over from NJ border
Two men led cops on a drug-fueled interstate police chase Friday evening before they were apprehended, according to authorities.
Police say Mark Harkins, 25, and James Jones, 28, began the chase in Paterson before crossing the George Washington Bridge into New York. The chase continued up the Saw Mill Parkway and across the Tappan Zee Bridge before ending in Rockland State Park.
The two men were apparently high on heroin after a failed drug deal in New Jersey.
Police say the suspects fired shots at them, leading an officer to shoot Harkins in the arm.
The two men were arraigned on charges of attempted murder, assault and reckless endangerment. Jones is currently being treated at Westchester Medical Center for heroin withdrawal.
