A driver had a stroke and crashed into his doctor’s office Monday morning in Yonkers.
Dr. Nadem Sayegh, who owns the building, tells News 12 Westchester that the man was on his way to an appointment when he smashed into Broadway Medical Services at 75 S. Broadway around 9:20 a.m.
The driver, 68, was alert when emergency crews broke into the car to get him out. He was taken to the hospital, but his condition is unknown.
Dr. Sayegh says he usually has a waiting room normally filled with patients. For some reason, the office only had five people inside, and everyone was able to escape unharmed.
Security camera video shows people in the waiting room running out of the way just seconds before the driver’s vehicle reversed into the waiting room.
Dr. Sayegh says he urges people with medical conditions to stay away from behind the wheel.
“People should be qualified to drive and if they have medical issues,” he says. “Sometimes their licenses should be taken away.”
Dr. Sayegh says he plans to see his patients at his other office in the Bronx until the building is determined structurally sound to resume operations.
