Driver airlifted to Westchester Medical Center after head-on crash with garbage truck in Newburgh

Police tell News 12 that a car traveling southbound crossed over into the northbound lanes and hit a garbage truck head-on just before 4 a.m.
A driver was airlifted to the hospital after a serious accident that shut down a section of Route 300 in Orange County this morning.
Police say the roadway was closed between routes 52 and 32 in the Gardnertown section of the town of Newburgh.
They tell News 12 that a car traveling southbound crossed over into the northbound lanes and hit a garbage truck head-on just before 4 a.m.
The driver of the garbage truck was taken to St. Luke's Hospital. The other driver was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center.
Route 300 opened in both directions shortly after 9 a.m.
