DPW worker finds stranger’s cash deposit after it’s blown away by wind
A DPW worker came to the aid of a woman trying to make a bank deposit in Yonkers.
Samantha Peterkin-Burkitt, of White Plains, was trying to make a deposit at the drive-up window at the Chase Bank on Nepperhan Avenue when her $300 blew away.
Peterkin-Burkitt asked two men for help, and then ran into Yonkers DPW worker John McDonald.
McDonald found two of the $100 bills and returned the cash to the bank. A teller found the other $100 bill.
Peterkin-Burkitt was still in the parking lot when she found out that McDonald found the money down the block from the bank.
"He's beyond my hero," she said. "If I wasn't married and he wasn't married I'd marry this guy. He's just an awesome person."
