Downpour drenches Westchester County
Three days before the official beginning of summer, heavy downpours rolled into the tri-state area Thursday, turning the evening commute into a wet nightmare for residents of Westchester and beyond.
Portions of the Bronx River Parkway were shut down due to flooding, leaving drivers looking for alternate routes.
"We're fed up with it," says Joseph Leddy, of Crestwood. "At this point, we could use a little sun."
While the rain is a nuisance for most, not everyone was lamenting the washout.
"We're staying busy with disabled vehicles, accidents and everything that goes along with towing and [the] automotive business," says tow truck operator Mike Sansaver, of Yonkers.
As many as 2 inches of rain have fallen Thursday alone, and more rain is anticipated this upcoming weekend.
