Downed trees caused a mess in the Town of Ramapo, including a massive tree blocking North Pascack Road.
The county Highway Department says they have equipment like chainsaws and trucks ready to haul them away.
Skip Vezzeti, the superintendent of highways for Rockland County, says there are extra men on standby to respond if need be.
County Executive Ed Day says O&R has 50 more employees also readily available.
Day says he wants residents to be extra mindful of flooding on roadways, too.
"Any doubt whatsoever, it’s anything but a small puddle, do not try and traverse it.
Because if you get caught in that, you may not come out of it alive,” he says.
Clarkstown will be using mini generators to keep stoplights on in case of outages - both to keep traffic moving and to allow Clarkstown police to respond to emergency calls instead of guiding traffic.
Supervisor George Hoehmann suggests residents stay safe and sound at home.
"People should just wait out the storm. Stay home, be safe, spend a little more socially distant time with your family,” he says.
